FINDING THE PERFECT EASTER DRESS

Easter is quickly approaching, and it's a holiday I've always cherished, both in my childhood and with my own kids now. Our celebrations leading up to Easter Sunday are filled with fun traditions like dyeing eggs, decorating, and reading Easter-themed books. On Easter morning, we eagerly await the arrival of the Easter Bunny, who leaves cute little baskets for the children.

One of my absolute favorite parts of the Easter celebration is finding the perfect Easter dress, both for myself and my daughter Marlowe. I have a special fondness for wearing dresses on Easter; there's something incredibly classic about donning a beautiful, timeless dress for this special day. It also marks the start of embracing springtime fashion, which I absolutely adore. My mom somehow managed to keep many of my own childhood special occasion dresses, and it's been a heartwarming and nostalgic experience dressing Marlowe in them over the years.

This year, Marlowe will be wearing a vintage Italian embroidered and smocked easter dress that I wore when I was four years old. I'm captivated by its ladylike and classic style, and the blues in the floral pattern make her blue eyes pop even more than they ever did for me (my eyes are hazel, while hers are blue like Kyle's). It feels like this dress was destined for my daughter since my own childhood, and the sentimental value of it almost brings me to tears. Marlowe adores wearing these cherished pieces of mine, and there are only a few left. It's a precious tradition to savor while it lasts, and I fully intend to pass them on to my own grandchildren one day. I hope my kids will be interested in continuing this beautiful tradition.

As for my own Easter dress, I'm absolutely in love with the one from By Johnny. The fit is impeccable (I have a few of their dresses, and the way they cut their clothes is so flattering), and the soft pastel stripes are exactly what I was looking for. I paired it with a gray suede pump and a delightful pair of vintage floral earrings.

Dressing my daughter and myself for holidays is a cherished ritual. I always let her watch me as I apply makeup for special occasions, and I take extra care in brushing her hair and dressing her up. I hope she carries these moments with her as she looks back on our relationship over the years. Holidays are one of the many ways I find joy in life, and putting care and effort into celebrations is truly one of my "love languages," as unusual as that may sound. Going through these simple yet beautiful rituals with my daughter fills me with happiness. My greatest hope is that my children remember me as someone who always tried to infuse as much joy as possible into life's little moments by truly savoring special occasions.

Do you have any special ways you prepare your family for Easter? I would love to hear about them in the comments below!
